Being Perfect

I was working on a project yesterday staring at a blank screen. I wanted to add a photo to a webpage at the top. I designed a nice logo and placed it. It looked a little off to me. I played with it for fifteen minutes and then finally deleted the whole thing.

There I was again. Staring at a blank screen. The content was ready to be copied and pasted. The email auto responder was set up and only needed a link to the page. Even a video had been shot and edited. But there I was. Still staring at a blank page. The pursuit of perfection is a noble cause. I mean, who doesn't want to be perfect?

Isn't that what we strive for? The reality is we all fall short, and that's OK! Reach for the moon. If you don't make it, at least you could catch a few stars. Are you staring at a blank screen because you want things to be perfect? You may be waiting for a very long time.

So here's my best advice. From my experience I find putting something, anything in to action is incredibly powerful. Is it absolutely perfect? Not by any means. But it is a start. Once you have something in action, you can start measuring the results and make small changes to get the desired outcome.

Will it ever be perfect? Most likely not, but that's OK. When a now worldwide package delivery company first started. They sent twenty packages to themselves. Less than half of those packages actually arrived.

They had an idea, a plan, and they took action. FedEx now competes on the world stage of package deliveries. Now it's your turn. Start filling your blank page right now with something, anything! It may never be perfect, but that's OK! CW
